A major road upgrade that will provide Melbourne with a second freeway link between the west and the city, the West Gate Tunnel Project is a $6.7 billion dollar enterprise. Both the West Gate Freeway and West Gate Bridge are currently at capacity, facilitating over 200,000 vehicles per day. Once completed, the new tunnel will ease congestion and reduce the number of trucks on residential streets.
Ardreagh Formwork used our 100t crane to transport the materials required to build the main wall inside the tunnel. They were looking to free up the tower crane on site so that it could perform other tasks. The depth of the tunnel under construction necessitated a 100t crane hire that could facilitate the lifting and lowering of materials.
